Abstract Synopsis
- This study compared two advanced techniques, transpancreatic biliary sphincterotomy (TPBS) and double guidewire (DGW), to improve success rates in difficult biliary cannulation during ERCP procedures.
- The main finding was that TPBS had a higher success rate in achieving deep biliary access than DGW, while both methods showed similar rates of post-ERCP pancreatitis, indicating that TPBS is a safe alternative in challenging cases.
- Overall, the study suggests that TPBS can be an effective and safe rescue technique when standard wire-guided cannulation struggles, especially when the guidewire enters the pancreatic duct.
