Abstract Synopsis

  • The PRISMA statement, initially released in 2009, aimed to enhance transparency in systematic reviews by outlining what the review aimed to achieve, the methods used, and the results found.
  • Due to advancements in systematic review practices over the past decade, the PRISMA 2020 statement has been introduced to update and improve the reporting guidelines, incorporating new methodologies for study identification, selection, appraisal, and synthesis.
  • The article discusses the PRISMA 2020 27-item checklist, which provides detailed reporting recommendations, as well as an abstract checklist and revised flow diagrams to improve the clarity and implementation of systematic reviews.
