While not universally transformative, the posts indicate that the publication has sparked significant interest and could influence opinions on lithium therapies.
Abstract in brief
Lithium orotate (LiOr) may be a better alternative to lithium carbonate (LiCO) for treating bipolar disorder because it is believed to cross the blood-brain barrier more easily, potentially allowing for lower doses and fewer side effects.
Lithium carbonate is effective but can cause significant health issues like thyroid and kidney problems, which may lead to patients discontinuing treatment.
Despite being largely discontinued since the 1970s, lithium orotate is being reconsidered due to its potential for improved safety and efficacy, though its history and mechanisms are still somewhat controversial.]

Review: the most frequently employed lithium salt, lithium carbonate (Li2CO3), is associated with adverse health outcomes following chronic use. An alternative with a lesser toxicity profile is Li+ orotate (LiC5H3N2O4) https://t.co/C3FKzSLWzN https://t.co/cUvR8r1hZJ
