Abstract in brief
- Ovarian cancer, especially high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC), is a leading cause of death among gynecologic cancers, with most patients developing resistance to traditional treatments, despite initial responsiveness.
- Although tumors show high immune cell infiltration and markers of immune activity, many patients don't benefit from immunotherapies, partly because of tumor heterogeneity and complex changes in the tumor immune environment.
- The cGAS-STING pathway, involved in immune response activation, is being studied as a promising therapeutic target; activating this pathway could boost immune-mediated tumor destruction and improve treatment outcomes when combined with existing therapies like chemotherapy.
