Abstract Synopsis

  • This study compared three types of resistance training—concentric-only (CON), eccentric-only (ECC), and combined concentric-eccentric (CONECC)—on elbow flexor strength and muscle growth in young adults.
  • Results showed that all training groups increased muscle strength (measured by MVC torque) and muscle thickness, with the combined CONECC and eccentric-only groups showing similar improvements despite having half the training volume of the concentric-only group.
  • The control group, which did not train, showed no significant changes, indicating that the observed improvements were due to the specific resistance training interventions.
