Abstract Synopsis

  • The study investigates the safety and effectiveness of an advanced endoscopic procedure called intensive downstaging polypectomy (IDP), which uses newer techniques like cold snare-forceps polypectomy (CSF) and underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (UEMR), to treat multiple duodenal adenomas in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
  • Results showed a significant reduction in the severity of duodenal lesions (Spigelman stage) after one year, with 71% of patients experiencing downstaging, including most with initially severe disease (stage IV).
  • The procedure was generally safe, with only one serious adverse event reported, indicating that IDP with new techniques can effectively manage advanced duodenal adenomas in FAP patients with minimal risks.]
