Phytochrome B photobodies are membraneless organelles in plants primarily made up of phytochrome B dimers and various interacting proteins, whose exact composition was previously unclear.
Using fluorescence-activated particle sorting, researchers isolated these photobodies from Arabidopsis and identified that they contain two main groups of proteins: those that directly interact with phyB and those that require coexpression with first-group proteins to localize to the photobody.
