Abstract Synopsis

  • iPHoP is a new machine learning framework designed to improve predictions of hosts for viruses that infect bacteria and archaea using metagenomic data.
  • It combines multiple computational methods in a two-step process to enhance accuracy and minimize incorrect predictions when identifying host taxonomy at the genus level.
  • Based on a comprehensive dataset from the IMGVR database, iPHoP shows promising results in predicting hosts for a wide variety of uncultivated viruses, aiding in further research on these organisms.
