Abstract Synopsis
- Consistent use of hearing aids in older adults with hearing loss is linked to a significant reduction in fall risk, with users experiencing about half the likelihood of falling compared to nonusers.
- The study shows that even after adjusting for factors like age, sex, hearing loss severity, and medication use, hearing aid users still have lower chances of falling, with daily use of at least 4 hours over a year being particularly effective.
- These findings indicate that regularly using hearing aids, especially consistently, may help prevent falls among older adults, which is important considering the high costs and health impact of falls in this age group.
