Abstract Synopsis

  • The study investigates the optimal timing for complete revascularization in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel coronary artery disease by comparing immediate multivessel PCI against a staged approach.
  • The trial involved 840 patients across 37 European sites, randomly assigning them to immediate PCI or a staged procedure occurring 19 to 45 days after the initial treatment.
  • Results showed that immediate multivessel PCI led to fewer primary endpoint events (death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, stroke, and hospitalization) compared to the staged approach, indicating it is at least noninferior and potentially superior for patient outcomes within a year.
