  • Radiology is a major area where medical malpractice claims arise, with underappreciation for the risks associated with using contrast agents during imaging procedures.
  • The study analyzed 151 legal cases involving medical malpractice related to contrast-enhanced imaging, focusing on complications and the outcomes of these litigation cases.
  • The most frequent issues were anaphylactic reactions (30% of cases), often linked to failures in diagnosis and treatment, followed by management of contrast media extravasation (27%) and acute kidney injury (13%), with all kidney injury trials favoring the defense.
