The study evaluated the outcomes of common femoral endarterectomy (CFE), a surgery for patients with occlusive disease in the common femoral artery, focusing on morbidity and mortality among a contemporary patient group.
Over 7 years, 129 CFE procedures were reviewed, revealing a patient population primarily over 75 years old with significant comorbidities; complications included local issues in 17% of patients and serious systemic complications in 15%.
Six months post-surgery, 13% of patients had died, with factors like being on dialysis, having chronic limb-threatening ischemia, and a higher ASA class being significant predictors of mortality.
