Abstract Synopsis

  • A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to assess the impact of cocoa consumption on various cardiometabolic risk markers in adults, using data from several research databases.
  • Studies included in the analysis were randomized controlled trials involving participants consuming cocoa products for at least 4 weeks.
  • Results showed that cocoa intake significantly reduced total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, and both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, highlighting its potential protective effects on cardiovascular health despite no changes in body weight or waist circumference.
