Abstract Synopsis
- Repetitive negative thinking (RNT) is linked to lower cognitive function in older adults, with higher RNT levels associated with worse scores on cognitive assessments.
- The study involved 424 adults over 60, using questionnaires to measure RNT and cognitive function, and found that those with higher RNT scores had significantly decreased cognitive performance.
- Results suggest that older adults aged 60-79 and those with at least a junior high school education may be more vulnerable to cognitive decline related to high RNT, highlighting the need for further research over longer periods.
