Abstract Synopsis
- The study finds that muscle fibre activation during resistance exercise performed to failure is similar regardless of load (heavy or light) and repetition duration, indicating both loads activate type II muscle fibres effectively.
- Surface electromyography (EMG) measures do not directly correlate with muscle fibre glycogen depletion or anabolic signaling during exercise, suggesting EMG may not fully reflect muscle activation or growth processes.
