Abstract Synopsis

  • Baxdrostat is an aldosterone synthase inhibitor that has been shown to effectively reduce seated systolic blood pressure in patients with uncontrolled and resistant hypertension, highlighting its potential as a treatment option.
  • In a phase 3 clinical trial involving 796 patients, those treated with 1 mg and 2 mg doses of baxdrostat experienced significant reductions in blood pressure compared to placebo after 12 weeks of treatment.
  • While baxdrostat showed promising results, there were some safety concerns, including elevated potassium levels in a small number of patients, necessitating careful monitoring.
