Abstract Synopsis

  • Plant-based protein supplements generally have lower levels of essential amino acids, particularly leucine, which can affect their effectiveness in promoting muscle protein synthesis (MPS) compared to animal-based proteins.
  • A study was conducted to compare a novel plant-based protein blend (PBP), one with added leucine (PBP + Leu), and whey protein (WHEY) to see how they affect MPS and amino acid levels in young adults.
